ADDITIONAL licensing SCHEME

There’s no doubt that property licensing schemes are contentious. Local authorities will often argue that they are invaluable in terms of tackling poor standards in the private rented sector and result in improvements in the quality of rented accommodation. Landlords will often argue that they are nothing more than a cash generator and that they drive rent up for tenants.

BANES have recently completed a 5-year additional licensing scheme covering 3 & 4 bedroom HMOs across Bath city which included inspection and assessment of hundreds of properties.

Piotr Toporowski from BANES Housing Standards and Improvements Team will present their results and conclusions, along with the feedback from surveys conducted after the scheme ended.

Join us to find out how effective the scheme has been, what impact it is believed to have had on standards and make your own informed decision whether the scheme has achieved its objectives at a reasonable cost.

MORTGAGE UPDATE

The mortgage market is currently changing more regularly even than Prime Ministers, so understanding what lenders are thinking, what rates are on offer, what it might mean if your fixed rate is coming to an end could be vital to success or failure of your portfolio.

Our mortgage expert Doug Hall from NRLA Mortgages/3MC will be on hand to explain what the market is currently doing, what the future might hold and answer any questions you might have.
