This is a question for all you HMO Landlords out there.

In the past 10 years I have renewed multiple HMO licences in multiple Councils and never had anyone from the Council physically inspect the property prior to handing out the licence. I'm wondering if this is a similar experience across the board?

Considering most regulation comes in because of Rogue Landlords. Surely the focus should be on getting Councils to do their jobs and actually check HMOs and investigate them to ensure they remain in an acceptable standard. Currently all the red tape is thrown at Landlords and tenants and members of the public to try and self police.

I would like the NRLA Policies team to monitor the responses here too because this is largly the reason why these regulations and renters reform are having to be introduced.
